Swan Lake Park is a small nature reserve in the Blackwater Valley on the outskirts of Sandhurst. There is a huge variety of bird and insect life and if you are lucky you may even see an occassional deer or fox. These are a few of my sightings in March.
Gray Heron
There are several Gray Herons at Swan Lake. This one was hiding in the reeds
Great Crested Grebe
Cormorant
Some of the harder to spot and even harder to photograph birds seen this month.
Kingfisher
Dunnock
Willow Warbler
Goldfinch
At this time of year nest building is the priority. Here we have a Wren and Tree Hopper with their beaks full of nesting material.
Wren
Treecreeper
The end of March saw the emergence of this season’s butterflies. The first to appear were the Brimstone and Peacock.
